Quick Bio

A note from Dr. Rivera:

As a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, I am excited to be back in Delaware caring for the community that helped shape me. I attended Delaware State University, where I played Division I baseball. Through my own experiences as an athlete and throughout my medical training, I came to understand how deeply an injury can affect a person’s quality of life—from competing in the sport they love to simply working, providing for their family, or enjoying everyday activities. Helping patients get back on their feet and return to what matters most to them is what drives my passion for orthopaedic surgery.

I completed my orthopaedic surgery residency at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey, where I received extensive training in complex trauma, joint replacement, and sports medicine. I pursued fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of Connecticut to further specialize in arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of complex athletic and musculoskeletal injuries. At UConn, I trained under world-renowned leaders in sports medicine and cared for athletes at the highest levels of competition while also developing expertise in the arthroscopic and open treatment of shoulder, hip, and knee conditions.

I am grateful to now serve communities throughout Delaware. My goal is simple: to provide thoughtful, compassionate, high-level orthopaedic care to every patient I meet. I believe great care starts with listening. I will take the time to understand your goals, treat you with the same care and respect I would give my own loved ones, and always give you my very best.
